Kitchen Garden

Inspired by Rosemary Vereys famous traditional potager at Barnsley House, box edged paths surround vegetable beds. Old roses including "Mme Isaac Pereire" intermingle with heritage vegetables such as "Bulls Blood" beetroot, Pink Fir Apple potatoes and "Carouby de Maussane" peas, which are grown not only for their attractiveness but also for their exceptional taste. Sweet William, Dahlias and Sweet Peas grow amongst the vegetables to provide colour and cut flowers for the house. An established asparagus bed is located at the northern end of the vegetable garden.

The small knot garden created to a traditional Elizabethan design forms a strong focal feature in front of a restored Victorian glasshouse.
