Walled Garden
Until 1990 the walled garden used to
be a working cattle-yard, now it is the very essence of an
English Rose Garden.
Old fashioned roses including "Gardenia", "Souvenir
du Docteur Jamain" and "Blairi No.
2" clamber
over the enclosing walls and trellis and on a summers day their
scent pervades the garden.
Further bush roses provide a backdrop to herbaceous plants such as Geranium, Achillea, Salvia, and Astrantia planted to provide
a harmonious colour scheme throughout the summer.
On the south wall of the garden is the Conservatory infused with the
heady scents of the Mediterranean greet you as you enter. Grapes,
figs, lemons and olives all flourish in this protected environment.
Teas are served in the Chalk Barn which forms the south wall
of the garden.
