Wildflower Meadow
Wildflower Meadow
The Kitchen Garden leads
directly into the Wildflower meadow. The meadow was planted
16 years ago to provide contrast to the more formal areas of
the garden.
In the spring the meadow is covered with cowslips and primroses
and is carpeted in the summer with Ox-Eye Daisies, Scabious,
Trefoils and many other chalk land grass species.
The meadow is managed as traditional pasture and attracts
a mass of bees, butterflies, small invertebrates and field
voles.
A lime walk planted with Tilia x europaea "Pallida"
bisects the meadow and leads you to views over the Wolds
to the North Sea.
